If you would like to continue your current class, you do not need to submit a separate application. If you pay the tuition according to the instructions provided, it will be regarded as your intention to continue, and you will be able to keep taking lessons with the same instructor.

✅레슨 홀딩 제도

✅ Lesson Time Changes
- Same-day lesson time changes or cancellations are not allowed. If you are absent on the day of the lesson, the session will be counted as used.
- With the instructor’s agreement, lesson times may be changed to a different day or time within the same week. (If you make changes directly with the instructor, please also inform the academy of the updated lesson time.)
- If you would like to change your lesson time, please contact the Composition Manager 1:1 Chat or your instructor at least 1 day in advance.
- Absences due to personal reasons are not eligible for make-up lessons. However, if you are unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances such as COVID-19, please contact the academy and we will provide further guidance.
- Exceptions for sick leave may be granted only in unavoidable cases such as COVID-19, influenza, other contagious illnesses that can be medically diagnosed, or accidents, provided that supporting documents are submitted. *Examples of supporting documents: medical confirmation, doctor’s note, prescription, etc. (Only documents under the student’s own name, issued within 1 day before, on the day of, or within 3 days after the lesson, will be accepted.)

✅ Lesson Schedule Changes

✅ Lesson Holding Policy
- If you would like to take a temporary break from your 1:1 lessons, a break of up to 4 weeks (1 month) may be processed as a holding period, and breaks of 5 weeks or longer are only possible through withdrawal and re-registration.
Minimum holding period: 2 weeks / Maximum holding period: 4 weeks If you wish to hold for more than 4 weeks, you must withdraw and re-register
*Only 1 use is allowed per half-year (January~June / July~December) - Split use and extensions before the holding period ends are not allowed - It cannot be used for 2 consecutive months across June and July, and it cannot be combined with a schedule change - It may only be used after attending lessons for at least 1 full month - If you begin a holding period during a tuition payment week, the holding period may only begin after payment has been made, in order to prevent repeated withdrawals without notice.
*If you withdraw and later re-register, you may not be able to return to the same lesson slot (same instructor, same time) depending on availability. The leave-of-absence validity period for composition students is 6 months, and if more than 180 days pass from the withdrawal date, the continuous attendance count used for lead opportunities will be reset. *For lead students, leads will not be provided during the holding period. *Exceptions may be granted if the break is taken in order to attend another composition class at the academy.

Q. What is the curriculum and lesson format for 1:1 lessons?
For 1:1 lessons, the lesson location and schedule vary depending on the instructor you choose. In addition, since 1:1 lessons are personalized, there is no fixed number of months required, and you may continue for as long as you wish.
Q. What is the difference between BASIC and ADVANCED in 1:1 lessons?
The difference between BASIC and ADVANCED lessons is the lesson duration: BASIC is one 60-minute lesson per week, while ADVANCED is one 90-minute lesson per week. There is no difference in lesson level, but for beginners, a 90-minute class may feel a bit long, so we generally recommend starting with BASIC. Group Lessons Toplining Group Lessons: These are regular courses where even students with no prior background or non-majors can start from the basics. Students learn both toplining theory and hands-on practice in stages according to their level: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Those with no prior toplining experience begin with the beginner class, while those with previous experience may start from the intermediate or advanced level. After completing the advanced class, students receive the basic benefit of lead opportunities, and outstanding students may be given the chance to work on toplining using original tracks by 153/Joombas exclusive writers, as well as opportunities for collaboration.
Toplining + Track Group Lessons: These classes allow students to learn both toplining and track making within a single class, and serve as a preparatory stage before moving on to the Song Camp Class. This is a small-group intensive class with a curriculum focused on completing one song per month (depending on level), where students can discover their own style and strengths while also building collaboration skills to make up for areas where they may be lacking.
Song Camp Classes are collaborative classes where students work not only with other students but also directly with professional writer instructors. Each group is made up of topliners and track makers. Through real-time feedback, students work on songs tailored to artists who may have actual sourcing opportunities during the song camp season. Songs completed through the Song Camp Class will then have the opportunity to be reviewed by the CEO of 153/Joombas Publishing and the A&R team. Q. I am not a music major and know nothing about music or instruments. Can I still learn?
Yes. In fact, many producers who are actively working in the field are also non-majors, and for beginners, 1:1 lessons are tailored to each student’s level and goals. So regardless of whether you aim to become a professional, it is absolutely possible to start learning as a hobby.
Q. Do I need to purchase expensive equipment or software to learn composition?
To get started, it is generally enough to have a computer (or laptop) that can run a sequencer (DAW) program and a pair of headphones. However, having an audio interface, speakers, and a master keyboard (or MIDI keyboard) with at least one octave can make the process much more convenient.
For sequencer (DAW) programs, we recommend that beginners start with an official trial version. Trial periods vary depending on the program, but they are generally available for around 90 days. During that time, we recommend taking lessons, trying out the program to see what suits you best, and gradually upgrading your equipment step by step as needed.
Q. Is it possible to take lessons even if I use a different sequencer from the instructor?
If you are at a beginner level, we recommend choosing an instructor who uses the same sequencer as you, so that you can build a strong foundation by learning the basics and detailed features of the program. If you are at an intermediate level or above, the overall principles of most programs are not very different, and since assignments can be submitted through STEM files and other formats, using a different sequencer generally does not cause major difficulties.
Q. Are lesson materials provided separately?

All songs submitted through song briefs received during 1:1 lessons, as well as songs completed in Group Lessons and Song Camp Classes, are reviewed by the 153/Joombas Publishing A&R team and CEO, and may be pitched to labels depending on the quality and overall level of completion of the work.
Q. Can I sign a publishing contract after completing the class?
Completing the class does not automatically lead to a publishing contract. However, if you become active as a 153/Joombas Rookies Writer, you may receive support similar to that given to affiliated writers, and depending on your activity period and achievements, this may lead to label pitching opportunities and a publishing contract.
Q. I am already under contract with another company. Can I still take classes?
You are free to take classes at 153/Joombas Academy regardless of whether you are under contract elsewhere. However, if you later work in connection with 153/Joombas Publishing, there may be restrictions depending on your existing contractual relationship.

<Course Extension and Tuition Payment Information>
✔Course Extension
If you would like to continue your current class, you do not need to submit a separate application. If you pay the tuition according to the instructions provided, it will be regarded as your intention to continue, and you will be able to keep taking lessons with the same instructor.

✔Tuition Payment
Since each 1:1 lesson student completes their 4 sessions at a different time, the academy will check individually and guide you to make tuition payments on a 4-week basis. <Composition 1:1 Lesson Attendance Policy and Penalty Notice>

✅ Lesson Time Changes
- Same-day lesson time changes or cancellations are not allowed. If you are absent on the day of the lesson, the session will be counted as used.
- With the instructor’s agreement, lesson times may be changed to a different day or time within the same week.
(If you make changes directly with the instructor, please also inform the academy of the updated lesson time.)
- If you would like to change your lesson time, please contact the Composition Manager 1:1 Chat or your instructor at least 1 day in advance.
- Absences due to personal reasons are not eligible for make-up lessons. However, if you are unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances such as COVID-19, please contact the academy and we will provide further guidance.
- Exceptions for sick leave may be granted only in unavoidable cases such as COVID-19, influenza, other contagious illnesses that can be medically diagnosed, or accidents, provided that supporting documents are submitted.

Unlike a lesson time change, a schedule change is used when you would like to move a lesson scheduled for the current week to the following week.

✅ Lesson Holding Policy
- If you would like to take a temporary break from your 1:1 lessons, a break of up to 4 weeks (1 month) may be processed as a holding period, and breaks of 5 weeks or longer are only possible through withdrawal and re-registration.
Minimum holding period: 2 weeks / Maximum holding period: 4 weeks
If you wish to hold for more than 4 weeks, you must withdraw and re-register
*You must contact the academy at least 3 days before the scheduled lesson -> Composition Manager 1:1 Chat
*Only 1 use is allowed per half-year (January~June / July~December)
- Split use and extensions before the holding period ends are not allowed
- It cannot be used for 2 consecutive months across June and July, and it cannot be combined with a schedule change
- It may only be used after attending lessons for at least 1 full month
- If you begin a holding period during a tuition payment week, the holding period may only begin after payment has been made, in order to prevent repeated withdrawals without notice.
*If you withdraw and later re-register, you may not be able to return to the same lesson slot (same instructor, same time) depending on availability. The leave-of-absence validity period for composition students is 6 months, and if more than 180 days pass from the withdrawal date, the continuous attendance count used for lead opportunities will be reset.
*For lead students, leads will not be provided during the holding period.
*Exceptions may be granted if the break is taken in order to attend another composition class at the academy.

Q. What is the difference between BASIC and ADVANCED in 1:1 lessons?
The difference between BASIC and ADVANCED lessons is the lesson duration: BASIC is one 60-minute lesson per week, while ADVANCED is one 90-minute lesson per week. There is no difference in lesson level, but for beginners, a 90-minute class may feel a bit long, so we generally recommend starting with BASIC. Group Lessons
Toplining Group Lessons: These are regular courses where even students with no prior background or non-majors can start from the basics. Students learn both toplining theory and hands-on practice in stages according to their level: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Those with no prior toplining experience begin with the beginner class, while those with previous experience may start from the intermediate or advanced level. After completing the advanced class, students receive the basic benefit of lead opportunities, and outstanding students may be given the chance to work on toplining using original tracks by 153/Joombas exclusive writers, as well as opportunities for collaboration.
Toplining + Track Group Lessons: These classes allow students to learn both toplining and track making within a single class, and serve as a preparatory stage before moving on to the Song Camp Class. This is a small-group intensive class with a curriculum focused on completing one song per month (depending on level), where students can discover their own style and strengths while also building collaboration skills to make up for areas where they may be lacking.
Song Camp Classes are collaborative classes where students work not only with other students but also directly with professional writer instructors. Each group is made up of topliners and track makers. Through real-time feedback, students work on songs tailored to artists who may have actual sourcing opportunities during the song camp season. Songs completed through the Song Camp Class will then have the opportunity to be reviewed by the CEO of 153/Joombas Publishing and the A&R team. To get started, it is generally enough to have a computer (or laptop) that can run a sequencer (DAW) program and a pair of headphones. However, having an audio interface, speakers, and a master keyboard (or MIDI keyboard) with at least one octave can make the process much more convenient.
For sequencer (DAW) programs, we recommend that beginners start with an official trial version. Trial periods vary depending on the program, but they are generally available for around 90 days. During that time, we recommend taking lessons, trying out the program to see what suits you best, and gradually upgrading your equipment step by step as needed.
Q. Is it possible to take lessons even if I use a different sequencer from the instructor?
If you are at a beginner level, we recommend choosing an instructor who uses the same sequencer as you, so that you can build a strong foundation by learning the basics and detailed features of the program. If you are at an intermediate level or above, the overall principles of most programs are not very different, and since assignments can be submitted through STEM files and other formats, using a different sequencer generally does not cause major difficulties.
Q. Are lesson materials provided separately?
This may vary slightly depending on the instructor and class, and you will be able to confirm the details during the first-week orientation. In general, however, materials needed for assignments, such as 2-track audio files or samples, will be provided.
Q. If I take a composition class, will I also have the chance to receive actual song briefs?

BASIC: Song briefs are provided for students who continue taking lessons from the 10th month onward
ADVANCED: Song briefs are provided for students who continue taking lessons from the 7th month onward
*We provide all available song briefs without any limit on the number of projects you may work on, and ADVANCED students are additionally given access to higher-level briefs.
For Group Lessons and Song Camp Classes, lessons are conducted through collaborative work based on actual song briefs. In addition, outstanding students in each class are given extra opportunities to work on additional song brief projects.
Q. Will I have the opportunity to pitch songs created in class to labels?
All songs submitted through song briefs received during 1:1 lessons, as well as songs completed in Group Lessons and Song Camp Classes, are reviewed by the 153/Joombas Publishing A&R team and CEO, and may be pitched to labels depending on the quality and overall level of completion of the work.
Q. Can I sign a publishing contract after completing the class?
Completing the class does not automatically lead to a publishing contract. However, if you become active as a 153/Joombas Rookies Writer, you may receive support similar to that given to affiliated writers, and depending on your activity period and achievements, this may lead to label pitching opportunities and a publishing contract.
Q. I am already under contract with another company. Can I still take classes?
You are free to take classes at 153/Joombas Academy regardless of whether you are under contract elsewhere. However, if you later work in connection with 153/Joombas Publishing, there may be restrictions depending on your existing contractual relationship.
